I have been craving bingsu all summer, so I can’t tell you how excited I was to see a store dedicated to bingsu at HWKR in the CBD! Of course, I made my way there as soon as I had the chance, and it did not disappoint! On my first occasion, we got the Mai Thai Times and the Milky Brew. Both bingsus were amazing! Even a small size had a generous portion, and the shaved ice is so smooth, soft and fluffy - a cross between sorbet and ice cream. Pouring the condensed milk on top fives an added richness and flavour, and doesn’t make it too sweet either. I loved the variety of toppings and whipped cream on each one. My favourite has to be the Thai tea flavoured one though - the combination is just sensational! I came back a second time with my friends, and we decided to try all the other flavours - Dusky Dream, Matcha Bonsai and Royal Taro. The chocolate-flavoured bingsu was not our favourite, as we prefer the more Asian flavours which seem to match with the bingsu the best. Our favourite was by far the Royal Taro - the taro flavour was very prominent and reminded me of Taro milk tea. So so so good! Scoopy Milk Bar is definitely one of my favourite stalls in HWKR to date. It’s my go-to dessert now on a hot summer day, and I really hope they open a permanent store somewhere in the CBD soon!
